Michael MoonMichael MoonBorn and raised in Southern California, Michael Moon knew he wanted to be an artist since the second grade. He pursued his interest in painting, drawing and art history throughout college, but decided on a career in education. After finishing his M.A. in Educational Psychology, he began to study art formally at Art Center College of Design and UCLA. He also continued to paint on his own, experimenting with new processes. Influenced by El Greco's passion, the Impressionist's love of color and the Expressionist's love of paint, he spent the next eight years painting essentially in solitude. During this time he began to be influenced by Eastern thought, especially the practice of meditation. He soon began to integrate Eastern and Western thought in the symbolism of his paintings. For Moon, the process of creating art is perhaps even more important than the product itself. He continues to refine and synthesize his journey through the vehicle of painting. Artwork
